Our Hair Replacement Systems On TV
The hair loss experts at Hair Transform were delighted to be invited to appear in episode three of the ITV show The Speakmans where we helped trichotillomania sufferer Danielle (Dannii) with a hair makeover.
After 18 years of pulling out her hair, Dannii worked with Nik and Eva Speakman to understand why she felt the compulsion to do this.
Dannii said: "I went on the show because I had suffered from trichotillomania for 18 years and couldn’t handle it any more. I didn’t have a life and I had become a hermit and wasn’t doing anything so I wanted to try and change that."
Volumising Hair System Transformations
The Speakmans used their Schema Conditioning Psychotherapy techniques to help Dannii recognise the root cause of her condition and help her overcome her hair pulling compulsion.
To mark this moment, Dannii was introduced to Hair Transform's hair loss experts Dawn Johansen and Sophie Pringle who designed a bespoke hair system that was fitted over Dannii's hair to allow her hair to grow underneath.
Dawn explained: "As Dannii had severe hair loss in certain areas of her scalp, a volumising hair piece system was required. The system comprises of a mesh base and top parting piece with high quality human hair extensions attachments."
Natural Looking Solution for Trichotillomania
"We use these systems for many of our clients who suffer from trichotillomania. They are also suitable for other forms of hair loss such as alopecia, genetic thinning or for loss due to chemotherapy or injury.
"We were really pleased with the results for Dannii - her new hair looks beautifully natural. The hair system is an added benefit to Dannii's treatment because the system helps to protect damaged areas and we have found with all trichotillomania clients that this also helps as a deterrent to 'pulling.'"
Dannii said: "I feel like a new person. My hair is better than it's ever been. Before the makeover I felt ugly and very unconfident but now I have really found my confidence again. By doing this I have shown other people with trichotillomania that there is hope and things can change."

Dannii was then treated to a professional photoshoot by Malcolm Journeaux of Rochdale to capture her new look, including make-up and her fabulous new hair.
After filming the show and having her makeover, Dannii has seen a positive change to her life. She is now more social and feels more confident but, most importantly, she is 'pull free'.
The Speakmans show follows therapists to the stars, Nik and Eva Speakman, as they attempt to successfully treat ordinary people with extraordinary problems. Nik and Eva see a range of people with debilitating psychological issues and attempt, over the course of one programme, to cure them.
